Music Venues in Northampton

Northampton's residents rate their music venues highly, from small-capacity intimate venues to huge theatre and music halls, the city has it all. Besides offering nationally and internationally-renowned acts, the more intimate venues allow you to email or submit a demo to get yourself on the stage. Guitar Lessons Northampton can get you ready to inherit any of these stages from the finest rock and pop acts.

The Picturedrome boasts of being Northampton's "finest intimate music venue", and judging by its past performers, certainly lives up to that assertion. Folk-hero Seth Lakeman, blues virtuoso Joe Bonamassa and indie favourites the Charlatans have graced this small (but perfectly formed) stage and this list is far from exhaustive. With a capacity of only around 650, you can see why the venue holds a special place in Northampton's heart, enabling you to get up close and indeed personal with the finest performers around. Don't let the size fool you, though, the Picturedrome boasts a state-of-the-art sound system and a fine lighting rig proving this venue is not to be taken lightly.

The Roadmender serves as both a nightclub and a concert venue and routinely draws in the biggest and best acts cementing its place among Northampton's population as one of the hottest spots for enjoying the irreplaceable live sound of bands. After the closure of some of Northampton's other indie clubs, the Roadmender remains unique in its importing of the freshest and most exciting new acts from around the international stage. The venue used to be a school building, but nowadays you won't find anything but the finest rock and alternative music from within its walls. Bands such as the mighty Radiohead, the eclectic Biffy Clyro and the idiosyncratic We Are Scientists have featured here before, and if this wasn't enough, the Roadmender takes emails from new bands in and around Northampton looking for gigs, so if you qualify, be sure to drop them an email.

Royal and Derngate is a theatre complex in central Northampton that plays host to music as well as stage shows and other events. The venue warranted a £15 million redevelopment project recently, transforming the Royal and Derngate into a venue of truly magnificent proportions. Jethro Tull and Seth Lakeman (who frequents Northampton's stages) have played here before, showcasing the best of established acts. However, there is an underground space in the Royal and Derngate where young people can get involved in and gain experience of performing and what goes on at a concert venue such as this one, an invaluable asset if you want to follow in the footsteps of Northampton's finest.
